Staffordshire University is a public research university located in the West Midlands of England. It has one main campus in the city centre of Stoke-on-Trent and three smaller campuses in Stafford, Lichfield and Shrewsbury. The university is made up of six academic departments covering computing and digital technologies; creative arts and engineering; health and social care; law, policing and forensics; life sciences and education; as well as the Staffordshire Business School.

Staffordshire University is a public university based in Staffordshire, UK and has been around for over one hundred years. Over the last few years, Times Higher Education (THE) has rated Staffordshire University’s ranking within 801-1000 universities for 2019 and 2020, which has dropped to 1001+ in 2021.

Despite this drop in international ranking by THE, other renowned publishers have still seen increased success in the university’s performance when ranked within the UK. As per recent data, Staffordshire has improved its ranking from 101st in 2017 to 75th in 2021. Similarly, according to The Guardian 2019 and 2020 saw an improvement of up to 53rd place and currently stands as 55th among the top 100 universities in the UK since 2017.

Infrastructure and Campus

The University of Staffordshire has two main campuses, located in Shelton and Lichfield respectively. 

The primary campus in Shelton offers courses in law, business, sciences, applied computing, engineering, arts, design, journalism and media production. 

It is spread across the College Road and Leek Road sites with the Mellor Building having taken over as the new home for engineering and applied computing departments following their move from Stafford Beaconside in 2013. 

Staffordshire University’s wireless network AirNet covers a large part of the campus to ensure efficient communication between departments and staff/students.

The University of Staffordshire got its ‘university status’ in 1992. The original branch at Lichfield was opened up in 1998 as a collaboration with Tamworth and Lichfield College.

 This campus provides academic teaching for students across all six major departments including the renowned Staffordshire Business School and Computing & School of Digital Technology where graduates can further develop their knowledge after leaving academic school or college.
