It was the first-ever University in the world to offer a Games degree i.e. Games Technology and Ethical Hacking.

This institute was recognised by the Scottish Education Department two years later as an important educational hub. In 1994, it was granted full university status and became known as the University of Abertay Dundee. By 2014, it was renamed what we now know today as Abertay University.

Abertay University admission requirements vary depending on the type of program a student is applying to. To begin with, all applicants must have a senior secondary school leaving certificate from either the ICSE, CBSE, or state board.

It is also essential that eligible students achieve a minimum score of 60 percent in their overall marks and 70 percent in the essential subjects, along with 65 percent in the other subjects for admissions.

For international students, it is equally important to demonstrate proficiency in the English language by achieving a minimum score requirement set by Abertay University through various standardised tests such as PEARSONS (PTE Academic), IELTS International Baccalaureate Language B at S5 or H5, TOEFL, WAEC/NECO C6 Cambridge C1 Advanced Cambridge C2 Proficiency Cambridge B2 First.
